KFUM-Spejderne i Danmark
is our full and correct name in Danish.
In English it is The KFUM-Scouts in Denmark
Several organizations in Denmark are part of the KFUM and KFUK family. When the KFUM-Scouts was created in 1910 it was as part of the, at that time existing, KFUM (YMCA movement) - as were organizations such as KFUM Athletics, KFUM Soldier Mission and KFUM Social Work.
Although we share the same four initial letters, the organizations are today completely separate and independent.
Also for girls
The 'M' in our name signalled that we were an organization for men and boys. This is not the case today. As early as in 1972, the association approved of bi-gendered units and since 1982 the association has catered for both genders equally.
Our work and agitation material is directed evenly towards both males and females and scouting in our organization is mindful of the needs of both genders.
